It goes inside the top-level subdirectory of the plugin or package  
you're installing.  For example, SLIME's info directory is

/Library/Application Support/Aquamacs Emacs/SLIME/info

This should work for user-local (~/Library) directories as well.

Don't install Aquamacs stuff into the original BSD hierarchy.
