Have both systems the same TeX distribution installed? (In TeX Live  
2008 there is a command line utility, tlmgr, that allows a privileged  
user, i.e., root or via sudo, to update the distribution. The MacTeX  
variant of TL 2008 also comes with an Aqua application that does the  
same.)
