You're not using MacTeX, but some elderly TL 2007 MacPorts TeX port:  
This is pdfTeX, Version 3.141592-1.40.3 (Web2C 7.5.6)  
(format=pdflatex 2008.3.14)

Maybe

	sudo port sync
	sudo port outdated
	sudo port upgrade <outdated or other name(s)>

helps to get TL 2008 from last year. The real "MacTeX" is on CTAN,  
around 1 GB, upgraded last week. My MacTeX preview from last summer,  
that badly needs an update, shows:

	This is pdfTeXk, Version 3.1415926-1.40.9 (Web2C 7.5.7)  
(format=pdflatex 2008.9.16)

but it can SyncTeX.
