Yes, you did something wrong.  Please go back and read my message - I described in high-level terms what to do, including reading the description at the source code page I pointed you to. 

Blindly copying some code is never the right thing to do.

In this case, I stated quite clearly that Aquamacs already comes with smart-dnd.

There's always a first time.  People here are certainly happy to help you learn it (if you're willing to look up the manuals first).
