The question came from a comment made by Bruno:

I was just wondering how XeTeX fits in, historically speaking, to TeX
on the Macintosh. I have never used Textures, although someone I work
with used it until I "introduced" him to TeXShop, iTeXMac and GW-teTeX,
all of which he now uses.

Also, while I have yet to try XeTeX beyond running some of Jonathan's
sample files, I have thought it might solve the problem my seminary
friends are having with the fairly new Greek and Hebrew fonts
distributed with the Macintosh program called Accordance. Basically,
they wanted to be able to cut from Accordance and paste into TeXShop,
then print out everything. We tried all sorts of things last Spring and
finally gave up.
