Which requires GUI scripting (not pretty) and you'll end up on a
different page than were you started.

TeXniscope can be used in two modes: You can ask it to check for
updates automatically (it will then update its display while remaining
in the background), but depending on the length of your pdftex run, it
may try to refresh too early. The other mode is to switch that option
off, and simply bring the viewer to the foreground. At that moment it
will check the pdf file for its modification date, and update the
display if needed. Also asking it to (re)open a file (open -a
TeXniscope file.pdf) will refresh the display.
pdflatex file && open -a TeXniscope file.pdf should automate it all.
