Hi all:

Just an update and a thank you to all who helped
fix this or sent suggestions in. I had a problem
with converting TeX documents to html using
TeX4ht where some text was dropped and ligatures
were garbled.

With Eitan's help, I was able to eliminate all of
the glitches I was having from converting TeX
documents to html resolved by adjusting the
i-records in

   /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local/tex4ht/ht-fonts . . . .

and then doing a few other things he suggested that I don't recall right now.

One issue remained, however: the ''ff'' and
other ligatures _would_ render correctly in
FireFox and Mozilla but not in Safari (running
10.3.9). In Safari these ligatures would appear
in a different font than the rest of the text.
Because I could not fix this I simply ignored it
figuring that the problem was in Safari's
rendering.

I re-installed TeX using the latest updates to
TeX (2005 version) and can happily report that
the problem is now 110% resolved -- the ligatures
appear correctly in FireFox, Mozilla, and Safari
in all the documents I've tested so far.

Thanks again to everyone for their help and
suggestions and especially to Eitan and Gerben
for doing their magic!

René
