It's consoling to see that people much more knowledgeable than me are  
also struggling with this. But I'm also surprised that there aren't  
more efforts to get a working xindy port for OSX, given that this in  
combination with XeTeX would allow a more or less complete Unicode  
workflow (That's not meant as a criticism, I'm just surprised).
