[OS X TeX] draftcopy "weirdness"

Hi. I discovered this morning something "weird" with the package "draftcopy" that is supposed to print the word "Draft" across the page. The something "weird" is that using 'pdflatex -shell-escape' does not produce the word "Draft" across the page; however, using 'latex'+'dvipdf' does produce the word "Draft".

This is the header I used.

%%---------------------------------cut here----------------------------------%%
\documentclass[]{article}
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}

\usepackage[timestamp]{draftcopy}
\usepackage[]{amsmath,amssymb}
\usepackage[]{array}
%%---------------------------------cut here----------------------------------%%

What did I do wrong? I work in an xterm window. Thanks.
