<br>
I have a document with equations that I need to have numbered a
particular way. Specifically, instead of numbering them 1 through 5,
say, I need them numbered 7.1 through 7.5. I tried
\setcounter{equation}{7.1}, but that didn't seem to do anything. Any
suggestions are appreciated.<br>

Thanks in advance,<br>
