This cannot work because XeTeX's XDV output format uses the file name extension ".xdv" and usually is not visible, because only intermediate and secretly and directly fed to xdvipdfmx (or xdv2pdf in Mac OS X, if so extra chosen).<br>

/Applications/TeX/TeXShop.app/Contents/Resources/TeXShop/Engines/XeLaTeX.engine should work as is.<br><font color="#888888">
