<p>Textmate does exactly what I want, but it doesn't have the nice side by side code and preview that Texshop has.</p>

Not as far as I know. There are editors that can do that.<br>
<br>
However, if there is a fairly consistent set of words you wish to complete you can just add them to the CommandCompletion.txt file by selecting them and pressing Source->Command Completion->Add Word (Shift-Cmd-W) and then you can start to type the word, hit ESC and it will pick the first completion it finds. You might have to press ESC more than once if there are many similar words.<br>

There are also System Wide applications, like TypeIt4Me, that are designed to do that sort of thing but you need to set them up so they don't interfere with TeXShop's built-in Command Completion.<br>
