a4 glitch in TeXShop

Postby fjd26 » Sun Nov 14, 2010 3:40 pm

Although I use an American Macbook, I live in Britain and have always typeset my documents in a4 without any problems. Recently, however, TeXShop has started ignoring my instructions and setting documents in US letter size.

I'm using PdfLaTex and the most recent version of TeXShop. When I go to the command line and compile my documents there, everything works properly. Any idea what's going on?

First, this has nothing to do with TeXShop which is a front end for your TeX System.

If you are running on OS X 10.5 or later and are using a fairly recent MacTeX(TeX Live) distribution open TeX Live Utility and use Actions->Change Paper Sizeā€¦ to make sure you've set the default paper size to a4paper.

Also, if you use LaTeX, you should set the documentclass option [a4paper] to tell the LaTeX macros the paper size. Finally, what do you have in your preamble? Do you use the geometry package?
Good Luck,
