Try 'texdoc geometry/manual', 'texdoc sem-user' might help further.  
Maybe there is an option to setup some geometry.

You don't mention exactly whether text on the slides is shifted or  
the slide is shifted in the PDF viewer. In TeXShop's preferences you  
can set a background colour to make an easy distinction. Could you  
also prepare a minimal example?

The seminar class is a bit old now, beamer seems to be quite good. It  
also has a mode to print the slides as hand-outs. 'texdoc  
beameruserguide' will provide some help.
