[OS X Emacs] Aquamacs layout in dired mode

This should normally appear in a monospaced font.  Chances are that something in your settings prevents that from happening.
The Options -> Appearance -> Font for Dired function will allow you to set a monospaced font such as Monaco, provided "Auto Faces" is turned on.
