[OS X Emacs] Usability of 3.x?

Hi

I kow the 3.x branch is unstable - but I I am using emacs from homebrew,
and would like to try aquamacs. As all my config files are emacs 24.x, I
would need the 3.x branch.

Is it usable for production? If not, any guess / timeline when a beta
will be released?
