However, if you install TeX Live via MacTex, the installer takes care of putting the appropriate item in /etc/paths.d, so that shouldn’t be the issue, as you say. It’s also hard to believe this is caused by the change from bash to zsh in Catalina, because both synthesize the path in the same way once they get to /etc/zprofile or /etc/profile. MacOS offers the directories /etc/paths.d and /etc/manpaths.d to create therein files à la '10-TeXLive' with a simple path name as contents. The path name should point either to the binaries or the directory containing the man? directories of this additional software component. After logout and a new login your environment should have learned the new paths. (I don't think that a restart is necessary.)<br class="">
