TeX Services (was Re: [Mac OS X TeX] Fonts, Illustrator and much frustration)

I was glancing through my InstantTeX manual last night, and realized
that a thing which I'd thought was covered in it was not :(

The NeXTTeX solution to this difficulty (getting TeX math into
Illustrator or another drawing program) is covered by the concept of
``Services'', essentially a menu entry which applies a program to the
current selection. The canonical example of this is Webster.app (now
done by OmniGroup's OmniDictionary which uses a dict.org-style 'net
server), where <Command> = gets one the definition of the currently
selected word.

TeX on NeXTstep affords this as well, as this snippet from the NeXT
readme of the  Computer Modern Blue Sky Research Type 1 font archive explains:

Oh, right, it's done by TeXView.app, not InstantTeX....

The equation in question is:
\magnification=1800$$-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}\over 2a$$

My apologies for the confusion (I'm scanning again today, so haven't had
occasion to experiment with Mac OS X TeX :(
