Word from one of Alpha's core development team is that a carbon Alpha
should appear -- with a little luck -- within six months or so.  (Just
spotted this in one of the Alpha digests.) Alpha's a complex
application, and one that's been around for quite a few years, so
carbonizing it is turning out to be a significant project. [And it is
being developed by an essentially volunteer team, not as a commercial
product.]

Anyway, the point is that folks are hard at work on it, and it is indeed
on the horizon.
