[Mac OS X TeX] Installing Truetype fonts?

Are there any instructions for how to install truetype fonts in a teTeX installation? The instructions at http://www.radamir.com/tex/ttf-tex.htm assume the existence of programs 'ttf2tfm' and 'ttf2pk', which I don't see anywhere in the Mac OS X install of teTeX. I was able to hack around a bit and have convinced pdftex to display nothing when I choose a truetype font, but that's not really good enough :*)

The 'quick & dirty' instructions at http://iris.ltas.ulg.ac.be/viettug/contrib/q/ assume the existence of program 'ttf2pt1' which also is not in teTeX.

The font installer at http://www.mail-archive.com/lyx-users@lists.lyx.org/msg07468.html also assumes the existence of ttf2tfm; and indicates that it comes with freetype. I used 'fink' to install both freetype and freetype2; neither seems to include ttf2tfm.

Also, is there an archive of this list available?
