I dunno 'bout typical in that direction. I'd say instead that typically, a
fair number of NeXT apps will provide a service in addition to its
stand-alone functions.
The spelling Service is a part of the system, though, not an app, and AIUI,
cocoaspell merely provides an extra set of dictionaries, and a directive
to use a different call so that ispell is used instead of the native NeXT
bit.
