[OS X TeX] Installing MusiXTeX

Just to close this story: I removed the files I'd stored all over the 
place, and made a texmf tree in ~/Library/texmf as Gerben describes and 
IT WORKED!  I'm running MusiXTeX just fine -- the issue had been 
creating the correct directory structure for me.  Thanks for the patient 
help, Gerben!
