[Mac OS X TeX] TeX + hash size

I recently got the error message TeX capacity exceeded, hash size
=10000. The texmf.cfn file in share/texmf/web2c revealed that the
value for hash_extra was set to 0. After changing this value to
30000 every thing ran fine.

I am asking Gerben if he could change the settings for hash_extra to
30000 or at least to value different from 0. What is the drawback of
setting this value to 30000 any way?

Regards,

Claus
