Bare Bones Software (I have no connection with them ever) released Super
Get Info which I think allows easy change of file type, creator, and
authorization settings. It's like /Developer/Tools/GetFileInfo,
/Developer/Tools/SetFile, chown and chmod all together, without ever
having to open a terminal window.

I tried the demo version when it was released and found it nice to use.
As far as I remember, at the time I found the pricing a bit high and
didn't buy it; now either they changed the price or my attitude has
slightly changed, but I think Super Get Info is worth looking at if you
do this a lot (changing types creators permissions etc.).
