Two quick points on Alphatk.
First, I recommend that anyone using the current version put the following
workaround in their 'prefs.tcl':
proc tw::colourSoon {w} {
if {![winfo viewable $w]} {
tkwait visibility $w
}
after 1 [list tw::colourWinFraction $w]
}
(Config->Preferences->Edit Prefs File) and save and restart Alphatk (this
is a workaround for a problem in the current Tk.framework). This will make
Alphatk *much* more responsive and fast!
Also the version of Alphatk.dmg uploaded yesterday fixes a few other
problems too (including that startup screen infinite loop craziness!).

It would be *very* helpful to get those error messages! I have recently
downloaded and installed both OzTeX and TeXShop so I will start trying with
them and see what the issues are. However I have been very successful with
'teTeX' already (see instructions from previous email to this list).
