[OS X TeX] Feature of epstopdf (probably normal)

About the script epstopdf, something I just noticed: epstopdf doesn't 
accept "." in paths, whereas usual UNIX commands cd etc. do. It might 
as well be a feature of GhostScript itself, not epstopdf.

Appended below is an example, pasted from Terminal.app.
