[OS X TeX] setting path to ~/bin

After upgrading to 10.2 some executable shell scripts of mine stored in 
/~/bin are not recognized by the terminal any more - command not found. 
Only when I add the full path like ~/bin/dvipdfc the command will be 
recognized.

Any ideas how to set the path.
