[OS X TeX] TeXShop slow while switching between windows?

I would appriciate some advice on this problem, a fried has started to use
TeXShop and LaTeX for her work, but she tells me that it takes forever to
switch windows etc. (she says it takes about 30 seconds)

She is running 10.2.8 on a 700MHz machine.

Does anyone know what could be causing this (I haven't been able to look at
her machine yet)?
