It is safer to put an additional pair of braces in the macro:

\makeatletter
\newcommand\floatref{\csname FLT@\thepage\endcsname}
\newcommand\floatmark{{\let\thepage\relax\edef\tempa{%
  {\global\string\@namedef{FLT@\thepage}{\csname fnum@\@captype\endcsname}}}
   \expandafter\write\expandafter\@auxout\tempa}}
\makeatother
