[OS X TeX] no SMALL CAPS in page headings?

Hello,

I hope a pure LaTeX question is OK:

I have to outcomment
%\pagestyle{headings}
in order to get SMALL CAPS (\textsc{ }) into section headings
(or other commands for that sake).

Is that an instance of this famous cake you can't have because you ate 
it,
or is there a way to get SMALL CAPS etc. into the page headings?
