[OS X TeX] Two columns

I also use minipage, but like this, because fixed widths make me 
sneeze. :)


\documentclass[11pt]{article}
\begin{document}

\begin{minipage}[t]{.45\linewidth}

This is the column one stuff. It  is just enough stuff to make it wrap.

\end{minipage}\hfill %\hfill uses left overs as a gutter
%
% no blank lines permitted here. try it to see why.
%
\begin{minipage}[t]{.45\linewidth}

This is the column two stuff. It  is just enough stuff to make it wrap.

\end{minipage}

\end{document}



If you need to go across page breaks, try this:


\documentclass[11pt]{article}
\usepackage{longtable}
\begin{document}

\begin{longtable}{p{.45\linewidth} c p{.45\linewidth}}

This is the column one stuff. It is just enough stuff to make it wrap.
&

& % there is probably some better way to get a gutter.

This is the column two stuff. It is just enough stuff to make it wrap.
