Hi Herb

Sorry, I wasn't clear. The package does a lot more than what I 
mentioned. I'm not sure of the details as yet, but I think it also 
provides a mechanism for adjusting the kerning values depending on the 
font being used.

(If you typeset pdfcprot.dtx for the manual, you'll want to comment out 
``\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}'' in order to avoid bitmap fonts.)
