That is pretty old. My compile system has been 10.2.8 ever since it was 
released. So you are running a system I distributed when I was still 
running Mac OS X 10.2.6. Maybe one and a half year old.

I would advise an update of the i-Package and a reinstall. Make sure 
you have the Nov 2004 version of the TeX i-Package.
