I suggest you try WARMFigToPDF at http://www.esm.psu.edu/mac-tex/WFTPDF/

Excel I don't know (print to postscript and eps2eps?). MATLAB, I use 
the command line "print 'Figure' -depsc -adobec" to create an eps 
figure file 'Figure.eps'.
