[OS X TeX] lmodern difficulties (solved)

I asked about the problem I was having, with LaTeX not being able to 
find the Latin Modern fonts.

This turned out to be the key to the problem. I used Simple install, 
and, for whatever reason, the lmodern fonts didn't get installed. The 
directory /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local/tex/latex/ didn't exist.
I reinstalled using Expert install, and specifically included the 
lmodern fonts. Now lmodern works as it is supposed to.
