[OS X TeX] preview-latex and lastpage conflict

Hi,

preview-latex seems not to like lastpage.  Can anybody reproduce the
error with this file:

\documentclass[letterpaper,12pt]{article}
%\usepackage{lastpage}
\begin{document}

$a^2 + b^2 = c^2$

\end{document}

If you use preview-latex, the formula should appear.  If you comment
out the second line, preview-latex will complain about not finding the
images.

- if somebody could verify this on his/her machine, please write me so
  I can contact the authors,

- if you have a workaround (or an alternative to lastpage), please
  tell me
