[OS X TeX] Creating .engine files in TeXShop

TeXShop will create .engine files, but does not set the executable bit 
without which they produce an error. It would be nice if TeXShop took 
care of that detail. Yes, I know I can do chmod in Terminal to get what 
I want, but as I say, it would be nice...
