[OS X TeX] no headings if section starts on top?

Hi everybody,
a colleague of mine prepares a book for publication and he encountered
the following problem: Suppose a page happens to start with a section
title; is it possible to tell latex to suppress in this case (and only
in this case, i.e. not if the section title is somewhere in the middle
of a page) headers and footers, or – preferably – to use some specific
pagestyle (via fancyhdr.sty)? Thanks for any suggestions.
Regards,
Ingo
P.S.: I receive the digest version of the list, so I won't be able to
answer immediately.
