[OS X TeX] multi lines

I need something like:

        Long line
            = Line 1
            = Line 2            

but equation, split give

        Long line = Line 1          
                        = Line 2  

and if multline does give

        Long line
            = Line

it gives of course (meaning I think I see why)

        Long line
            = Line  1
                            = Line 2      

LaTeX Companion (2ed) does not seem to address the issue.

I am sure it's trivial but I can't even think of a hack.
