[OS X TeX] which is real math mode?

Be cause the formar is displayed maths ($$...$$) the latter "inline"  
maths ($...$). you could force the display style by saying

    \begin{center}
    $\displaystyle 0.37\;\denom{D\mathsmaller{EKA}\;Franklins} =
    370.\;\denom{M\mathsmaller{ILLI}\;Franklins}$
    \end{center}

Erm, by the way, wouldn't that be Deca and Mili or am I missing the  
point (one of my many shortcomings ;-))?
