[OS X TeX] pdf font coding problems

First of all, I would like to thank you all for the time you took to =20
help me.

The problem is solved, although the solution is time consuming and =20
awkward. As an academic, interested in solving in great detail =20
problems that do not even occur to others, I am very dissatisfied.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how Illustrator complained =20
about missing Nimbus fonts? I do not have any on my computer. =20
Googling Nimbus, I find that I can buy it at myfonts.com. I can buy

Nimbus Roman No9 L

as regular italic or medium italic. Would it help?

I also found a Web site for GhostScript fonts, including Nimbus. =20
Unfortunately, it showed only three links to downloading them and all
were dead.

So thanks to all,

George
