Since, as you say, it would be a matter of … preference, I am sure that 
the threshold could be controlled … in the Preferences rather than by 

So, the question, is: Why isn't it? Answer: Just leave it to the 
experts. (Never mind that the experts stand to profit by such 
"delegation of power". And I will refrain to give a couple of off topic
