[OS X TeX] Math mode on fancyvrb

I need the math mode to use left arrrows on examples of source code.

My cleanest approach is like this:

+++++++++++++++  begin LaTeX sample
\newcommand{\myequal}{$\leftarrow$}
\begin{Verbatim}[frame=single,commandchars=\|\[\]]

    num |myequal[] num + 1

\end{Verbatim}
+++++++++++++++  end LaTeX sample

Any better ideas?

Yes, I know about listings and the algorithms variants.
