Gary Gray has posted detailed instructions several times, either in
messages to this list or somewhere on the Mac-TeX site, I don't
remember exactly where.
Briefly, here's what's in my Lucida font directories:

As to the exact renaming, you can get hints from
/Library/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/fonts/map/dvips/lucida/lucidabr.map
/Library/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/fonts/map/dvips/lucida/lumath.map
(the PostScript names, that you used, are the second names on each
line, and the names of the PFB files are the last names on each line).
It's also described in the documentation of the lucidabr package,
unfortunately missing from teTeX but available from CTAN
<ftp://ftp.cam.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/psnfssx/
lucidabr/lucidabr.dtx>.
Don't use the makefile
/Library/teTeX/share/texmf.tetex/doc/fonts/bh/makefile mentioned by
Will Adams: it's here for converting from the original Y&Y names (such
as lbr.pfb) to Karl-Berry-style file names (such as hlhr8a.pfb), not
from the PostScript names (such as LucidaBright) to Y&Y names (such as
lbr.pfb).
If for some reason you ever choose Karl-Berry-style names, then you'll
have to run in Terminal:
sudo updmap --disable lucidabr.map
sudo updmap --disable lumath.map
sudo updmap --enable Map lucidabr-k.map
sudo updmap --enable Map lumath-k.map
If, on the other hand, you plan to use Lucida fonts with plain TeX, you
must choose Y&Y names and make sure you have run:
sudo updmap --enable Map lucidabr-o.map
sudo updmap --enable Map lumath-o.map
Hope this helps,
Bruno Voisin
