[OS X TeX] box in forms

Howdy,

Try this:

\documentclass{article}

\newcommand{\boxit}[1]{{\setlength{\fboxsep}{10pt}\framebox{#1}}}
\newcommand{\pboxit}[1]{{\setlength{\fboxsep}{10pt}\framebox{\phantom{#1}}}}


\begin{document}

Test \boxit{5} text! \framebox{didn't effect normal frames} text \pboxit{5}
or \boxit{abcdefg} and then \pboxit{abcdefg} and change the case
\boxit{AbcdefG} and, finally, \pboxit{AbcdefG}! In math mode:
\(\pboxit{5}^{2}-\boxit{2}^{3}=\boxit{17}\) or
\[
\boxit{?}^{2}-\boxit{2}^{3}=\boxit{17}
\]
