Replace "\emph" by "\protect\emph". Or by "\textit". (Delete all .aux

\emph is a fragile command, to be \protect'ed in movable input (like 
the argument of \section, \caption, etc.).

This is a perfect example that providing complete context, and spending 
some time preparing a minimal example (ie a reduction), not only helps 
but is also absolutely necessary, because the error does not lie at all 
where anticipated.
