[OS X TeX] installing ifmath fonts?

It usually goes into /fonts/afm/<vendor>/<name>/

Here it should be /fonts/enc/dvips/ifmath/

Yup.

Almost. There is the tradition with a vendor folder but the search  
mechanism doesn't care.
