[OS X TeX] BibDesk and pTeX

Someone filed a feature request for BibDesk to support Shift JIS  
encoding for kanji characters used with pTeX (see  
<http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php? 
func=detail&aid=1152718&group_id=61487&atid=497423> for details).

I've added support for this encoding, but the requester also mentioned  
another JIS encoding, as well.  Can someone who uses pTeX tell me what  
other encoding is necessary?  Apple only lists one encoding with "JIS"  
in the name, so I'm a bit confused.
