sorry, I was trying to make a joke but forgot to smile...

learning ConTeXt after years of LaTeX can be a chalenge
learning emacs+AucTeX after years of TeXShop like stuff can be a 
challenge too

And things might be much more difficult while learning both at the same 
time.

And for a newbie on a Linux box, learning both is quite impossible;!)

More seriously, many french people miss translated manuals to learn 
ConTeXt and this is a real barrier.
