I think that with the advent of SpotLight, some other changes would  
be more helpful (sic). If the documentation of the packages is in PDF  
(instead of DVI), Spotlight would be able to index these files. This  
in turn would make it a lot easier to find documentation, or ways to  
achieve some effects (even if you didn't know the name of the package  
or the documentation name beforehand). Without looking, do you know  
the name of the documentation file that accompanies graphics.sty and  
graphicx.sty?

The usefulness could be enhanced even further if a certain keyword or  
tag would be embedded in all documentation files (apart from the  
author supplied ones (something like "TeXDocumentation"), because  
searches can then be limited to files know to contain tex documentation.
